STOLEN!!

FROM

PARROTS OF THE WORLD
316 SUNRISE HIGHWAY
ROCKVILLE CENTER, LONG ISLAND, NY 11570

August 14, 2007
The thieves took:

TWENTY, 10 to 12 week old African Grey Parrots,
TWENTY, 10 to 12 week old Blue Fronted Amazon Parrots,
FOUR Medium Sulphur Crested Cockatoos
and
ONE Green Aracari Toucan.

Parrots of the World is owned by Marc Morrone and Nick Guerra. You may have seen Marc on the "MARTHA STEWART SHOW" or as the host of "THE PET SHOP with MARC MORRONE". You may also have seen Marc on "THE FAMILY PET" Television show with Dr. Jonathan Greenfield.

The GREEN ARACARI is such an unusual bird that I thought I would provide a picture. The bird that has been stolen is a female and the coloring is very similar to the bird seen here.

This is a devastating loss and I would like to do anything that I can to help Marc and Nick find their parrots and get them returned!

MACAWS STOLEN FROM SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOO
IN KANSAS

April 27, 2007 --Sedgwick County Zoo officials discovered this morning that two scarlet macaws - one named "Mac" and one named "Cheese" - were missing from the Zoo's Jungle Building following an apparent break-in to the building. Zoo officials are currently working with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department who is investigating this incident that is believed to have occurred between 11 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. early Friday morning.

If you know anything about these missing birds please contact Zoo officials immediately at 316-266-8280 or the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department.

Obviously, the Zoo staff is very concerned about the birds. These birds are fed a highly specialized diet and are very social animals. Being alone and away from its familiar environment at the Zoo could be detrimental to the bird's health and well-being.

The birds taken were: a PAIR of ECLECTUS (Solomon male and possible RS/Sol mix female), 2 MEXICAN RED HEADED AMAZONS (aka greencheek Amazons); 2 WHITEFRONTED AMAZONS (aka spectacled amazons) and 1 BLUEFRONT AMAZON.

The ECLECTUS pair are semi-tame, but sweet and still able to be handled. The 4 AMAZONS, were raised from babies. They are tame and can say a few words. The BLUEFRONT AMAZON is not 100% healthy - she had aspergillosis, still has breathing difficulties, and may need meds. In the wrong hands, she will end up dead.

The following pictures are of the stolen birds listed above!

LOST : OLD BOARDMAN - OREGON - WAS LOST ON OCTOBER 1, 2003

LEXI is a GREY COCKATIEL with BRILLIANT ORANGE EAR FEATHERS. He was our first bird. We loved him dearly. We lost him on October 1, 2003. However there can be no mistaking him because our neighbor devised a CHAIN HARNESS to put around his little body when taken outside of the house. HE WAS FULLY FLIGHTED. Although LEXI was lost in 2003 his human family, now living in Ontario OREGON, still wants him back very much!!

Lexi, if still alive is ten years old now. He had a limited vocabulary. His speech was not easy to understand. But he could say, right here, come here, pretty bird, and MIKEY! He loved to whistle happy tunes. He also loved to play hide and seek and sadly we accidently taught him chase whenever we left and wanted him in his cage for his own safety. He thought we were playing when we weren't. He enjoyed a wide variety of foods and insisted he have most what we were eating.

IF FOUND, PLEASE EMAIL

COCKATIEL SPOTTED IN PORT ORCHARD WASHINGTON: ON A WIRE IN FRONT OF THE WASHINGTON NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY ON MILE HILL ROAD IN PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON!

APPEARS TO BE A "NORMAL GREY" COLOR PATTERN. WE TRIED TO LURE HIM DOWN TO A CAGE AND SOME FOOD. HE SEEMS TO BE "PEOPLE FRIENDLY" AS HE RESPONDED TO VOICES BY TURNING AND LOOKING AT US. HE EXAMINED THE CAGE FROM HIS SPOT ON THE WIRE. WE HOPED HE WOULD FLY DOWN TO IT. HE DIDN'T.

THIS GUY HAS GREAT FLIGHT AND GETS AROUND WELL. HE FLEW OFF THE WIRE AND CONTINUED, FLYING VERY WELL OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. HE DID A FEW CIRCLES AND THEN WE LOST SIGHT OF HIM.
